A Quarter of Jaguar Land Rover Suppliers Paused Production or Laid off Staff

During the Jaguar Land Rover production halt recorded at 25-0902, survey reporting indicated that around a quarter of the company’s suppliers had paused production or implemented temporary layoffs, across a chain supporting more than 200,000 workers.

At 25-0928 this desk recorded the UK government guaranteeing lending expected to unlock £1.5 billion, and observed that suppliers had not chosen JLR’s security posture, had no visibility into it, and carried the consequence anyway.

That file described the structure. This one has numbers attached to it — and they exist because a parliamentary committee and industry bodies asked, not because any incident-reporting regime required them.

No records were exposed at any of these suppliers. No notification was owed to anyone. Nothing about this appears in a breach register, a leak site, or any of the 2025 totals recorded at 25-1210b and 25-1230.

What happened is that people stopped being paid. The corpus filed at 25-1223 that availability harm outside regulated sectors falls outside every 2025 reform; this is what that exclusion covers in practice.

A tier-one supplier with a diversified customer base absorbs a five-week interruption. A specialist further up the chain, making one component for one customer, does not — which is the subject of 25-0930b.
