Somebody Surveyed the Supply Chain

Survey work during the Jaguar Land Rover shutdown found 45% of responding suppliers reporting significant financial impact through lost revenue or higher costs, 35% asking staff to work reduced hours, and 14% making redundancies.

In every case the corpus described the structure and had no measurement. Somebody surveyed the affected population here, and the result is the only quantified account of what happens to the organisations downstream of an incident.

45% financial impact, 35% reduced hours, 14% redundancies. That is a severity gradient: most affected firms absorbed it, a third pushed the cost onto workers’ hours, and a seventh cut jobs.

No incident register produces anything like that. A breach notification records an affected count; it does not record what proportion of affected parties took which mitigating action.
